Chalet Isla de Lux

There are a couple of restaurants and bars in Essert-Romand, and many more in Morzine.

About the property...

Chalet Isla de Lux can accommodate up to 12 guests in six bedrooms, with five bathrooms, set across four floors.

The entrance on the first floor brings you to a wonderful open-plan living area, with huge windows that let in plenty of light and open onto the wraparound balcony – it's a wonderful spot to get together for an apéro before dinner, enjoy a bit of stargazing, or simply sit and soak up the wonderful view of the mountains. Inside, there is a huge U-shaped sofa where you can get cosy in front of the fire and watch a film on the widescreen TV. You will also find a dining area with a table big enough for everyone to eat together, and a well-equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook for a crowd.

If you'd rather eat outside, there's another dining table on the terrace, as well as a separate seating area where you can enjoy your coffee and the fabulous views. You will also be able to enjoy the views from the hot tub.

Take the stairs down to the basement, where you'll find the laundry room and the sauna, with a shower next to it. Another few steps will take you to two bedrooms – one with a king-size bed and the other with twin beds that can be made up as a double bed if you prefer. There are also two bathrooms – one with a bath, shower, basin and WC, and a smaller one with a shower, basin and WC.

The last room on this floor is a great games room with a pool table, a sofa and a small kitchen area – older children will love to make this space their own!

The master bedroom is on the entrance level with a kingsize bed, a balcony and an en-suite bathroom and small dressing area.

The remaining three bedrooms are on the top floor: one with a king-size bed and an en-suite shower room; another with a king-size bed, and one with twin beds that can be made up as a king-size bed. These two rooms share a bathroom with a bath, shower, basin and WC. This floor also has a useful mezzanine area with a desk and a sofa.

There are two parking spaces outside the chalet, with room for more cars on a private piece of land which is reached by steps at the front of the chalet. There's also a ski room, which can be reached by the steps at the side of the chalet, as well as a boot warmer for winter.

About the area...

Chalet Isla de Lux's location in Essert-Romand makes it ideally placed for exploring the 12 ski stations of the Portes du Soleil. Set in a quiet location, you're just a few minutes drive from the busy ski stations of Morzine and Les Gets.

With 650km of pistes, almost 200 lifts and endless cross-country skiing, you’ll never be bored in this winter sports paradise. The resorts span the Swiss border, so why not ski into Switzerland for lunch? But be careful which route you choose – the Swiss Wall is a piste that challenges even the most experienced skiers.

If you’re not a skier, or if you fancy a change from the slopes, Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which regularly play host to ice hockey matches. The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling, ice-diving, or tandem paragliding. If you’d rather discover the area in a more sedate manner, try a sleigh ride.

Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.

When the snow melts, the slopes around Morzine and Montriond become a haven for walkers, mountain bikers and thrill-seekers.

Just a short drive from Chalet Isla de Lux, the lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, leaving you to come back down at your leisure – pack a picnic and make a day of it!

Morzine has earned the "Famille Plus" status for its excellent childcare and entertainment – a perfect choice for young families. There are superb water parks in Morzine and Avoriaz, plus two summer sledging runs. The Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages.

Other activities include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, fishing, kayaking and hiking. Don’t forget to visit the nearby Lake Montriond, for swimming, lakeside walks and the beautiful Brochaux waterfalls. You can also visit nearby cheese farms, buy fresh fish at Morzine's trout lake and wonderful delicacies from the local markets.
